Building Law Consulting, LLC is established by Mr. Shauqat Shaikh to provide consulting services related to compliance with NYC zoning resolution, building code, MDL and NYC local laws etc, to professionals such as Architects, Engineers, Code Consultants, Filing Representatives, and Developers.

With 31 years of experience at the Department of Buildings, Mr. Shaikh has acquired extensive knowledge of NYC Building Code, Zoning Laws, Multiple Dwelling Law, Housing Maintenance Code, Fire Code, etc.

Mr. Shaikh was a key member of the task force for First Deputy Commissioner of Technical Affairs and he also served as zoning specialist at DOB Technical Affairs. He also helped Borough Commissioner at Development HUB and various Borough Commissioners in reviewing variance requests and ZRD1 and CCD1 determinations by providing interpretation on important zoning and building code, MDL, Local Laws and RCNY issues. He was a core member of “High Rise” team at the Manhattan Borough Office

Throughout his career Mr. Shaikh has provided plan examination training, answered technical questions, and explained the department’s memorandums, policies, and procedures.

Mr. Shaikh has represented the Department of Buildings at other city agencies such as DEP, HPD, LPC,

FDNY, loft board, and MTA regarding building issues. He also interacted with the Department Of City Planning to find ways to implement zoning resolution text.

He also helped the department in serving during “Homeowners Night” answering citizens questions and addressed concerns regarding compliance with building code, zoning resolution, MDL as well as local law matters.

Outside of work, Mr. Shaikh enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
